China has announced that it plans to launch a satellite to test a new technology aimed at giving smartphone users instant access to high-resolution cameras in space.
According to the South China Morning Post, a professor of remote sensing engineering at Wuhan University, Wang Mei, said that this technology means that any region or event can be broadcast live from orbit to a mobile device on the other side of the planet with a delay of no more than 10 minutes.
Wang pointed out that the program, which will be launched next July, aims to allow anyone to access the program for free, and the service will be opened to users all over the world.
