The branches of the General Organization for Social Insurance in various governorates continue to accept requests for service additions, compensation refunds, and raising the percentage, in implementation of the decision of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor issued last year, which includes accepting these requests from the beginning of May 2021 until the end of April 2022.
And the director of insurance affairs in the institution, Ayman Al-Madani, said in a statement to SANA that the number of decisions to accept the service addition amounted to 10,833 decisions since the implementation of the ministry’s decision until the end of last December, and the value of the amounts returned to the institution from that amounted to more than 2 billion and 872 million Syrian pounds.
Al-Madani indicated that according to the decision, the insured with all types of insurance may add their previous services to the service periods calculated in the pension, provided that the worker pays the institution amounts estimated at a percentage of his annual wage at the beginning of the insurance subscription for each year of service required to be combined, indicating the existence of Facilities, which is the possibility of paying the amounts in monthly installments equivalent to the service period to be included.
Al-Madani explained that the issuance of the decision came after the expiry of the period of the similar ministerial decision issued in 2019 and the increase in the number of those entitled to join the service recently, including those who were dismissed from the military service and former employees, in addition to the appointment of about 28 thousand people who succeeded in the competition for laid-off that took place last year and the installation of a number of agents in the education sector.
The decision to add services, raise the percentage and return compensation in one payment requires submitting a request from the insured who is on the job to the relevant insurance branch. The service for which the insured is entitled to a pension, not for fractions of a month.
The decision includes the inclusion of services performed in ministries, departments, public bodies, departments and institutions affiliated with and associated with the Ministry of Defense and public bodies that are not covered by old-age, disability or death insurance, whether the person who performed the service was an employee, employee, worker or military who performed compulsory or reserve service or in the Palestinian Liberation Army and the Housing Corporation Military and Ministry of Education as teaching hours.
It also includes colleges, institutes, schools, centers, and teachers’ houses for the study period for graduates who are required to be appointed by the laws and regulations in force and who received a study aid during the study period, provided that the study period to be included does not exceed the maximum years of study.
It is noteworthy that the inclusion of service is issued by a decision of the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor whenever necessary and for a specified period in order to facilitate the employee’s access to more guarantees in terms of the pension salary.
