"Ghost Course": The lecturer died two years ago, students are still learning from his recordings
Nearly 50 students in the Introduction to Geography course at the Hebrew University learn from the recordings of Prof. Roni Allenblum.
Since his death, the university has chosen not to fill the place of the esteemed lecturer and settle for additional frontal hours with practitioners and field trips.

Students in the Department of Geography at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem have been studying for two years from the recordings of a deceased lecturer.
As time went on, the university chose not to fill the place of the esteemed lecturer, Prof. Roni Allenblum, and to settle for additional frontal hours with practitioners and field trips.
The course in question is an introduction to the geography of Jerusalem, a compulsory course for first-year students, in which close to 50 students participate.
Whereas in the first year of his death the students realized the delay in finding a replacement, now they are already having a hard time making the unusual decision to open another semester without a functioning lecturer, and say the alternative offered by the university does not meet the academic needs.
"The outline decided is recordings of the deceased lecturer, a few individual frontal encounters with the doctoral practitioners and five tours. At first it was zoomed in and people were spinning with it, and when it came to our yearbook it became videos we had to watch in our free time and occasionally come to frontal exercises." One of the students in the course.

When asked about the lecturer's consent to use his recordings, the student answered that the lessons are part of a project done to make his lectures accessible to the public.
"I was surprised that there was no lecturer who replaced him. It sucks that they chose to do it this way, we were in the market. We did not believe it would come to that. We really like the department and it is a pity they did not find another solution or more hours with the practitioners," he added.
"The university says they talk to us after every lecture and that's not true. We meet the practitioners about four times. We came because we love the profession, it sucks and disappoints that this is what the university does."
Last week, one of the students published a post on the subject on the Facebook page "Confessions of the Hebrew University" (HUJI Confessions).
"Let them eat the porridge they cooked If you ask me," a student in the course's WhatsApp group commented, while another noted that "many people were hurt by the post and there is no intention to find culprits."

The Hebrew University stated that "this is a compulsory course that deals with the cultural history of Jerusalem. The bulk of the course is based on tours of the city and a dialogue with a team of lecturers from the Department of Geography. Prof. Roni Allenblum, who died suddenly about two years ago "An electronic lecture is a discussion and dialogue with the practitioners of the course. It should be noted that the decision to continue in this format was due, among other things, to the high satisfaction of the students for the lectures and the content delivered by Prof. Allenblum."
