Matthias Opdenhövel is part of the inventory of "The Masked Singer".

But just at the start of the season on Saturday evening (March 19), the ProSieben presenter is absent due to illness.

He will be replaced by Thore Schölermann, who himself was a candidate on the show.

Not quite, but for Matthias Opdenhövel (51), who has presented the ProSieben show since the beginning, the Munich broadcaster had to spontaneously find a replacement due to illness: Thore Schölermann (37) takes over.

Although "The Masked Singer" only started in Germany less than three years ago, the sixth season of the Mitrate show is already starting on ProSieben on Saturday.

Fans of the show, in which celebrities sing in elaborate costumes, were able to catch a glimpse of the disguises of the (still anonymous!) participants in advance.

While the anticipation increases, however, a case of illness overshadows the start of the season of the format originally from South Korea: moderator Matthias Opdenhövel will be missing for the first time after more than 30 episodes.

The 51-year-old has contracted the corona virus and has therefore already missed his infotainment program “Zervakis & Opdenhövel.

As a replacement, ProSieben has caught a celebrity who already knows “The Masked Singer” very well: Thore Schölermann was already there as a monstronaut on the big stage and won fifth place in spring 2021.
