The 23-year-old convict who was injured in an ambush in the San Paolo district of Bari last night is still hospitalized in very serious conditions. The 15-year-old girlfriend who was with him, already heard by the investigators, reported in the ambush an ankle wound and, after being treated in hospital, she was admitted for observation but it is not serious.
The 23-year-old Nicola Cassano, nicknamed "The Jackal", is believed to be close to the Strisciuglio mafia clan.
Throughout the night the carabinieri, coordinated by the prosecutor of the Bari DDA Bruna Manganelli, carried out surveys and stubs, acquired information from witnesses and extrapolated the images from the video surveillance cameras that could help reconstruct the dynamics of the injury.
It is not excluded that the hitman traveled aboard a car, perhaps driven by a second person, who would have flanked the one with the two boyfriends on board and then explode at least 7 shots while running and flee in the direction of the city center.
The shells found, all 9 caliber, are seven while the holes in the car door are 6. The 23-year-old was hit by one of the exploded bullets, being wounded in the lower abdomen.
