On the stage of the "Sound of Peace" peace concert in Berlin, Natalia Klitschko thanked the thousands of people who had come to show their solidarity with Ukraine.

"Only together can we create peace," said the 48-year-old.

She is the wife of the mayor of Kyiv and ex-professional boxer Vitali Klitschko.

While he has been defending the embattled Ukrainian capital against Russian attack for more than three weeks, Natalia Klitschko and their three children stayed in Germany.

The two have been married for almost 30 years.

"What is happening to my country now is terrible," she said on the sidelines of the event in front of the Brandenburg Gate.

“It's important to see the masses that gather here.

It is important to see that the whole world stands for Ukraine.«

The guilt remains

She was born in the Ukraine and now lives in Hamburg.

Your children would try to lead a normal life in Germany, Klitschko said a few days ago in an interview with the editorial network Germany.

“But the guilt remains.

You feel guilty because you are safe here and the people we love are in Ukraine and are fighting for us.«

Like Natalia Klitschko, Olena Zelenska, wife of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, has repeatedly advocated continued international support for the country.

Most recently, she asked the World Council of Churches (WCC) for help in establishing humanitarian corridors in Ukraine.
