Gertraud Gruber and her merits were honored at her funeral service.

Employees said goodbye with yellow roses.

The cosmetics pioneer was buried in Rottach-Egern.

Rottach-Egern – Around 300 mourners said goodbye to Gertraud Gruber yesterday afternoon in St. Laurentius in Rottach-Egern.

The church and graveyard were awash with roses - the emblem the deceased once gave to her beauty farm and cosmetics brand.

On the coffin white roses, in front of it - next to the portrait of a knowingly and understandingly smiling Gruber - a huge heart of pink roses.

White candles burning left and right.

The almost two-hour service, which was broadcast online, was solemn and highly emotional. In addition to her employees - all recognizable by the single yellow rose that they were later to throw in their boss's grave - friends and companions came.

In addition to "guests" of her beauty farm, the President of the Landtag Ilse Aigner, Mayor Christian Köck with large parts of the municipal council and the former mayors Konrad Niedermaier and Franz Hafner also said goodbye.

Gertraud Gruber had asked not to make a "shit" out of her funeral

Monsignor Walter Waldschütz brought Gruber to life with his memories.

Especially their sense of humour.

For example, when he anointed her when she was ill, she wanted to know whether he was using something from the Gruber cosmetics line.

Several times - including her request not to make "shit" at her funeral - he made the mourners smile and asked them not to mourn, but to be grateful that "we had them".

Gertraud Gruber had a big heart that was always open but never wanted to be praised.

Abbot Johannes Eckert of St. Bonifaz compared Gruber to the unknown woman who anointed Jesus in Bethany with precious nard oil, making him the Messiah, the anointed, and healing him.

Gruber made people shine, both inside and out.

The evangelical pastor Doris Zölls, the spiritual director of the St. Benediktus Hof, which thanks to Gruber could be developed into a leading spiritual center in Europe, praised the cosmetics pioneer as a seeker of meaning, who took the path of mindfulness and in turn spirituality in people could plant.

Aigner praises Gruber as a role model and inspiration for all women

State President Aigner praised her as a role model and inspiration for all women - at a time when this was by no means a matter of course.

Gertraud Gruber has shown that it is always worth fighting for your dreams and goals.

Mayor Köck addressed his "Vergelt's Gott" directly to the deceased honorary citizen, whom he praised for her courage, her pioneering spirit, her skill and her life story.

And Gruber's closest confidant and director of the Gertraud and Josef Gruber Foundation, Irene Boop, promised the friend who taught her and many others the "right way to deal with life": "We will do everything to ensure that her life's work is in her spirit us To carry meaning into the future.” Gruber did not want people to cry for her.

She wanted "a smile that we give her on the last way".

This wish could only partially be fulfilled.

Because with the smile, tears also flowed over the great loss.
