Water was discovered in the helmet of German astronaut Matthias Maurer after a seven-hour field mission on the International Space Station ISS.
This was announced by the US space agency during the live broadcast of the field mission on Wednesday.
It was not immediately clear how much water had accumulated in the helmet.
Maurer was "in good health" and "not in danger," NASA said.
Cologne/Houston – The incident should be investigated.
Maurer's colleagues on the ISS first examined and documented the helmet and other parts of the space suit.

Together with his US colleague Raja Chari, the bricklayer from Saarland had worked outdoors for around seven hours.
According to NASA, no water had collected in Charis' helmet afterwards.
The incident brings back memories of Italian astronaut Luca Parmitano.
When he was stationed on the ISS in 2013, so much water collected in his helmet that he almost drowned.
