US President to meet in Brussels with Western leaders to present a united front with Putin • Focus: NATO partnership commitment in case Russia invades another country


US President Joe Biden will take off tonight (Wednesday) for the Belgian capital Brussels for a four-day official visit in the wake of the war in Ukraine. Biden will try to present a united front with his partners in front of President Putin.

President Biden's campaign will begin on Thursday with an emergency summit of NATO leaders in Brussels, where the parties will stress the commitment to a common defense alliance in case Russian President Vladimir Putin decides to advance towards another member state of the alliance. Sets the policy of the Union as well as with the G7. Also, the heads of policy will consider the possibility of imposing further sanctions on Moscow.

Earlier, Biden spoke with senior European officials including French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Schultz, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi and Boris Johnson of Britain.

The White House said in a statement that "leaders have raised serious concerns about Russia's brutal tactics in Ukraine, including attacks on civilians."

It was further stated that the customs "emphasized their continued support for Ukraine, including in providing security and humanitarian assistance to the brave Ukrainians who are protecting their country from Russian aggression."

Poland expels Russian diplomats, Putin's senior adviser resigns and flees

After the summit in Belgium, the American president will fly to Poland, where he will meet a number of senior officials, and on Saturday he will talk to his Polish counterpart, Andrzej Duda.

In Warsaw, developments in Eastern Europe are being followed with concern, against the background of the crossing of more than two million refugees, most of whom have moved to Poland.

Meanwhile, Polish authorities have targeted 45 Russian diplomats on suspicion that they are spies and are now trying to expel them from the country.

Meanwhile, Russia is facing a series of sanctions against the country's economy, and the situation around Putin's circle appears to be worsening.

According to a Bloomberg report, Putin's climate adviser, Anatoly Chubais, has resigned and fled the country for disagreeing with war policies.

This is the most senior person retiring since the invasion into Ukraine began.
