Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed that the cause of the crisis in Ukraine was the West's attempt to prove its existence at Russia's expense, adopting a unipolar policy and expanding NATO to the east, threatening Russia's security.
In a speech he delivered today, Lavrov said that Washington's interest is that the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine not proceed quickly, but that the military operation be prolonged, pointing out that if NATO sends peacekeeping forces to Ukraine, this will be a direct clash with the Russian forces.
