Theatrical writing obsessions and difficulties were the focus of a symposium organized by the branch of the Arab Writers Union in Sweida today at its headquarters, with the participation of writers, directors and theater actors.
The opinions of the participants varied in terms of writing requirements for the theater, its tools and conditions, in order to reach a comprehensive theatrical text that is able to convince the director, actor and recipient in light of the changes, emphasizing that there is a big difference in writing between theatrical text, novel, story and narration.
The playwright and director Ziad Kerbaj saw that the concerns of playwriting come at the forefront of the show's concerns as a whole, as the writer must learn how to hide behind the characters and highlight them in isolation to move, think and explain what is inside, while emphasizing that the theatrical text is a dialogue in a dramatic language, away from being overwhelmed with description and narration .
As for the artist, Maan Dwaier, head of the branch of the Syndicate of Artists in the Southern Region, he spoke as an actor and theater director about the difficulty of searching for a text capable of tempting the director and actor to perform and presenting a new addition to it and presenting it within a visual and aesthetic synthesis without being exposed to the structure of the text, in light of the lack of all Arab playwrights. Writing for theater and crises of living reality.
For his part, the Director of the National Theater Department in As-Suwayda, writer and theater director, Rifaat Al-Hadi, considered that writing for theater is action-generating and of a synthetic nature. On the stage to create a show that fulfills all the elements, events, actions and visions.
Some of the interventions called for cooperation between the relevant authorities and the organization of qualitative workshops in the field of playwriting and the importance of taking the hand of young talents and developing their creativity and development in this field.
Head of the Writers Union branch in Sweida, writer Wejdan Abu Mahmoud, explained that the symposium comes within the framework of interest in theater, which reflects the progress of nations and their civilization, research into the problems and obstacles of writing, the decline in the number of her writers, and encouragement to join the Theater Association in the Union branch to activate work in this direction.
The symposium was attended by a number of writers and those interested in theatrical affairs.
