Russian President Vladimir Putin today criticized Western countries' decisions to freeze Russian assets, describing them as illegal and destroying the reliability of their currencies.
The Russia Today website quoted Putin as saying during a meeting with members of the Russian government, “A number of Western countries have taken illegal decisions regarding the so-called freezing of Russian assets, and thus the West has destroyed the reliability of its currencies, which is what we saw from the declaration by both the United States and the European Union of a real deficit.” in their obligations to Russia.
Earlier today, Putin announced the transfer of gas supplies to Europe into the Russian ruble, stressing that his country will continue to provide these supplies in accordance with previously concluded contracts in terms of quantity and price because it maintains its reputation.
