The Republic of Abkhazia announced the mobilization of its armed forces and the holding of maneuvers with the participation of reservists, expressing its readiness to provide military support to Russia in its special operations to protect the Donbass population.
The TASS news agency escaped from the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Abkhazia, Vladimir Anoa, saying in a statement, “In the event of a deterioration of the situation, the armed forces are ready to fulfill their duty to protect the state sovereignty and independence of Abkhazia, and in accordance with the obligations of the allies and the decision of the President of Abkhazia, we will provide military support in achieving the goals set by Russia.”
Inwa added, "Given the difficult military-political situation in the region, the republic has put its armed forces on high alert and carried out mobilization activities and sudden training courses, including reserve forces and personnel of the Ministry of Defense."
The Abkhaz minister pointed out that NATO maneuvers in Georgia clearly showed that Tbilisi did not abandon its hard-line rhetoric and the path towards joining NATO.
The President of South Ossetia, Anatoly Bibilov, announced earlier today that the republic's soldiers had left for Donbass to participate in the Russian special operation.
