Farmers in Vendée are currently facing an unprecedented wave of avian flu.
Very virulent, it affected, according to the latest count from the Ministry of Agriculture, 554 farms, more than half of those affected in France (1,028).
This virus, transmitted mainly by migratory birds, appeared in this department, located on the Atlantic coast, on February 26, after a strong gale.

It then spread very rapidly to nearly half of the 1,200 poultry farms in Vendée, killing a total of 8.2 million animals (ducks, hens, chickens, turkeys, guinea fowl, etc.).
