"Freedom Day" in Bavaria: Corona masks are no longer compulsory in retail
Masks are not compulsory everywhere else, for example in retail, in all kinds of leisure facilities and in schools.
However, the state government recommends that you continue to wear a mask indoors, for example in retail, but also in schools except in the classroom.
The expiry of the strict corona rules corresponds to the specifications in the new Federal Infection Protection Act, which the traffic light parties (SPD, Greens and FDP) had enforced against much resistance.
After a transitional period expires on April 2, the federal states can only adopt stricter rules under certain conditions, namely if a more dangerous virus variant appears in a “local authority” or if there is a risk of the clinic capacities being overloaded.
The state government denied this - and refrained from declaring all of Bavaria or even individual regions to be hotspots.
