Spokesman for the terrorist organization: "Defend Jerusalem by force" • Palestinian Foreign Ministry also issued strong condemnation • MK Sami Abu Shehadeh: "Foreign Minister came to the Old City for defiance"

Hamas condemns Foreign Minister Yair Lapid's visit yesterday (Sunday) in the Nablus Gate area of Jerusalem.

A statement from the organization's spokesman in Jerusalem, Muhammad Hamada, said that this was a serious escalation that Israel would bear.

"The Palestinian people are committed to defending Jerusalem and al-Aqsa by force and by all means at its disposal," the statement said.

"Lapid's defiant visit to the Old City came to add fuel to the fire that the angry bull Ben Gvir lit on the spot," said MK Sami Abu Shehadeh, chairman of the joint list faction.

"The competition between all the Zionist parties in recent days has come to satisfy the instinct and desire of the masses for revenge and blood. This is a dangerous policy that could burn the entire region. The Bennett-Lapid-Abbas government bears full responsibility for all developments in al-Quds."

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry also issued a strong condemnation of Lapid's arrival in the area.
