Ed Sheeran wins a plagiarism case for his song Shape of You

In a London High Court verdict on Wednesday, a judge ruled that Ed Sheeran did not copy artist Sami Switch's song "Oh Why."

British musician Ed Sheeran has won a high-profile copyright case for his 2017 hit song "Shape of You."

In a London High Court verdict on Wednesday, a judge ruled that Sheeran did not copy artist Sami Switch's song "Oh Why."

Switch, whose legal name is Sami Chokri, claimed that Sheeran plagiarized a key part of the song from 2015.

In his verdict, Judge Zacaroli wrote that he was satisfied Sheeran did not deliberately or unknowingly copy elements of Switch's "Oh Why."

Sheeran was accused of copyright infringement before.

In 2016, he was sued over his single "Photograph" which was settled out of court, and was indicted more than once for his hit "Thinking Out Loud" which started the same year.
