MK Idit Silman's dramatic announcement this morning (Wednesday) of her resignation from the coalition drew a wave of sympathetic reactions and congratulations from right-wing MKs and faction leaders.
Opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu released a video shortly after the announcement of her retirement, in which he called on the right-wing party to "return home to us."
"I was very excited to hear Silman's statement and I congratulate her on behalf of the masses of the people of Israel who wish for this moment," Netanyahu said.
"Idit proves that what guides you is the concern for Jewish identity in the State of Israel and the Land of Israel among the people of Israel and I welcome you home. I call on everyone who is elected by the national camp to join Idit and return home.
In an official statement issued by Silman, she wrote that unfortunately she could not lend a hand to the government's moves.
"I tried unity. Unfortunately, I will not be able to give a hand in harming the Jewish identity of the State of Israel and the people of Israel.
