Generation.s, the movement founded by Benoît Hamon and support of Yannick Jadot for the presidential election, announced Thursday that it was suspending members who signed a call to vote Jean-Luc Mélenchon to block Marine Le Pen.

"Génération.s reminds you that the decision to co-organize the environmentalists' primary was the corollary of our commitment to support the winner", writes the movement in an internal letter addressed to the members in question.

It was published on Twitter in particular by the elected official of Asnières (Hauts-de-Seine) Romain Jehanin "suspended": he knew that "it was the risk".

"By highlighting in this appeal your membership of the movement to justify this choice, it is its image that you are using", indicates Génération.s to these members.

“In application of the rules of procedure sanctioning the explicit support for a competing electoral process, you are hereby notified of the suspension of your membership”, concludes the movement.

I learn, like my comrades, that we are "suspended" from @GenerationsMvt for having called to vote @JLMelenchon this # April 10, 2022.

I knew that was the risk.

I assume.

“These are activists who from the start do not accept that we are in the environmental pole” founded with EELV, reacted Benjamin Lucas, formerly at the head of the Movement of Young Socialists (MJS).

He also mentions "disappointments as to the choice in certain constituencies" for the June legislative elections.

“Only four are members of our national collective which has around a hundred members,” he relativized.

“What counts is not the political cadres and the apparatchiks but the voters,” added the leader, criticizing “end-of-campaign calculations to prepare for the next blow”.

“This April 10, 2022, it will be Mélenchon!

Some EELV activists have also announced on social networks that they have been suspended by their party for having publicly supported the rebellious candidate, placed third in the polls behind Marine Le Pen and Emmanuel Macron.

In a forum called "Activists from the environmental pole, we will vote Mélenchon next Sunday", nearly 70 members of EELV and Génération.s pleaded for the useful vote in the first round.

🔴 This #April 10, 2022, this #CeSeraMelenchon!

📣Faced with the climate emergency and the risk of a 2nd round Macron - Le Pen, with more than 70 https://t.co/oWKdDzkZSf https://t.co/Jr9KDVW4cp of the environmental pole, we call to vote @JLMelenchon this #10April.

“Seeing the left reach the second round will put the ecological emergency and social justice back at the center of political and media debate instead of the hateful and rancid logorrhea that we are promised,” they explain.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon has been addressing left-wing voters for several weeks to urge them to vote "effectively" for his benefit.
