New $50,000 bail for Pablo Lyle: what has happened to the case of the actor accused of involuntary manslaughter?

The 35-year-old Mexican actor had cited economic difficulties that have prevented him from paying the original bail, since he has not worked for three years and is in the US under a tourist visa. In 2019, Lyle hit a 63-year-old man, who died days later.

A Miami judge set a new bail for Mexican actor Pablo Lyle, accused of involuntary manslaughter, despite the fact that the artist's lawyers had alleged financial difficulties in paying the original bail.

Lyle, 35, attended a hearing in person Thursday where he asked to continue his parole without posting bail, citing that he has been unable to work for three years and lacks financial means.

However, Judge Diana Vizcaino considered that there were no arguments to avoid payment.

“This court is respectfully going to set bail as it originally did in 2020 for Judge (Alan) Fine in 2020 and it is going to be a $50,000 bail with GPS (electronic) monitor,” Vizcaino said.

The actor was accused of involuntary manslaughter in 2019 after hitting Juan Ricardo Hernández, 63, in the face, who died four later in the hospital due to a brain injury.

The actor was on his way to the airport with his family when Hernandez's car crossed the road.

The man, of Cuban origin, got out of the car to claim Lyle's brother-in-law, who was at the wheel, for blocking his path.

The two argued and the actor got out of the back seat and hit Hernandez, according to security camera footage.

The family continued on the way to the airport where they were preparing to travel to Mexico but Lyle was stopped before boarding.

The actor defended himself at the time saying that he acted in self-defense by believing that Hernández was going to attack him with a weapon.

But his arguments were dismissed.

The actor's lawyers said Thursday that the economic difficulties in completing the bail were due to the fact that their client had not been able to work since the judicial process began, since he is on a tourist visa in the United States.

"Every dollar counts," said Bruce Lehr, the actor's attorney.

When consulted by the judge, prosecutor Shawn Abuhoff assured that Lyle could not have privileges.

"The state's position is that this defendant should not be treated any differently than any other normal defendant," he said.

Ada Pozo, former judge of the Miami Court and co-host of the Money Court program, stated in an interview with Hoy Día, from Noticias Telemundo, that if he is unable to pay bail, the actor must remain in jail until his trial, scheduled for July 5th.

The deadline to pay the original bail is April 8 and, according to the judge, the new amount "must be deposited, as legally stipulated by state statutes," that is, on the same day.
