Presidential 2022: Anne Hidalgo obtains 2.1% of the vote

2022-04-10T18:10:19.430Z

The socialist candidate, whose voting intentions continued to decline over the course of the campaign, was eliminated in the first round. She doesn't

The fist and the rose, symbols of the Socialist Party, look gray.

The PS candidate for the presidential election, Anne Hidalgo, obtained only 2.1% of the vote in the first round this Sunday, according to a first estimate Ipsos - Sopra Steria for Le Parisien and Franceinfo.

It is at the same time eliminated and its campaign costs will not be reimbursed, for lack of having reached the 5% mark.

After the vote this Sunday, she even finished behind MP Jean Lassalle.

The mayor of Paris had promised, during the last municipal campaign, that she would not seek the Élysée in 2022. She was finally officially invested as a candidate on October 15, 2021, benefiting, from the start, from the support of the authorities of the party.

But she will never have succeeded in bringing together enough voters behind her to hope to qualify in the second round, let alone to unite the left.

In the polls, it never really took off and had fallen to 2% in recent weeks.

Anne Hidalgo will now return full-time to her duties as mayor of Paris.

Unless it takes the field to pursue its commitments at the national level.

“We can see that the PS is out of breath.

We will have to work on a refoundation of the left.

Anne is very aware of this and will play her full role,” Senator Bernard Jomier recently confided.
