Some commonalities, and many differences.
Having arrived, as in 2017, at the head of the first round (28.3%) of the presidential election of 2022, Emmanuel Macron is preparing to face Marine Le Pen once again (23.3%).
Speaking, as five years ago, from the Porte de Versailles, the president-candidate however changed his attitude this Sunday evening.
Leaving his wife, the first lady, at the foot of the platform, the outgoing did not display the triumphalism which had cost him dearly at the time.

Once again applauding, from the first moments of his speech, all of his eliminated opponents - whom he all mentioned - he hailed their campaign.
And paved the way for a possible rally for the second round.
“
Democracy is rich in all committed people who defend their ideas with strength and passion.
(…) I solemnly invite our fellow citizens, whatever their sensitivities, and whatever their choices were in the first round, to join us
,” he said.
A "decisive moment for the future" where "nothing should be as before"
Insisting on those who, "
as of this evening, (him) gave their support
", he personally "
thanked
" the socialist Anne Hidalgo, the ecologist Yannick Jadot, the LR Valérie Pécresse, and the communist Fabien Roussel.
Ditto for the Insoumis Jean-Luc Mélenchon, of whom he is "
fully aware that this is not (worth) support for the project (that he) is carrying
", but that it is a question of a desire to "
block far right
" on 24 April.
Because that is the whole point for Emmanuel Macron: resuscitating the Republican front to hope to win comfortably in two weeks.
“
In this decisive moment for the future of our nation, nothing should be as before.
That's why I want to reach out to anyone who wants to work for France.
I am ready to invent something new to bring together diverse convictions and sensibilities
,” he sketched.
“Convince” those who have “turned to abstention or extreme voting”
To achieve this, the president-candidate "
calls on all those who, for six years and until this evening, have been working alongside (him) to transcend their differences in order to come together in a great movement of political unity and action
".
This includes all the forces of the social democratic left, the republican right, as well as environmentalists.
So many forces which recorded ultra-disappointing scores this Sunday, all under 5%.
Added to this is a strong dramatization of the danger represented by Marine Le Pen, whom he carefully took care not to mention.
“
To all our compatriots who have turned to abstention or extreme voting, either because they are angry at the inequalities that persist, at the ecological disorder, at the insecurity of everyday life, at the difficulty of living with dignity even when you work hard;
either because they feel insufficiently represented, listened to or associated, I want to convince them
”, he listed.
