Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehamer revealed that he conveyed to Russian President Vladimir Putin the desire of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to hold direct negotiations.
"I told President Putin that President Zelensky wants to establish direct contact for negotiations," German TV channel Welt quoted Nahamer as saying today.
Nahamer had visited Moscow earlier today and met Putin, but the two sides did not hold a press conference after the meeting.
It is noteworthy that this is the first meeting between the two sides since Nahamer took office late last year, and the Austrian chancellor was the first leader of an EU member state to visit Russia since the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine last February.
