The Russian Air Transport Agency confirmed that the European Commission's decision to include its airlines in the blacklist of the European Union reinforces Europe's desire to strengthen its air blockade against Russia.
Russia Today quoted the agency as saying in a statement: “This decision bears witness to the continuation of the policy of unfriendly unilateral European measures that violate the provisions of the Chicago Agreement and bilateral agreements and only confirms Europe’s desire to strengthen its air blockade on Russia.”
She explained that these restrictive measures taken in absentia are not based on any reasons related to the technical condition of the fleet of Russian airlines, maintaining the airworthiness of these aircraft and implementing leasing transactions, stressing that all aircraft comply with airworthiness standards and are subject to periodic maintenance within the time limits determined by the maintenance program.
