Roscosmos, the Russian space agency, has revealed technical details of its multi-use nuclear space locomotive.
According to a publication issued by the Foundation's Russian Space magazine, "The working life of the nuclear power unit that will be located in the space locomotive of Zeus is estimated at ten years, and during this period the locomotive will be able to complete several missions in space and will return several times to low Earth orbits to dock with the payloads that will be transferred to the space station." deep space".
The publication clarified that the locomotive mentioned, after the end of its service in space, will be sent to safe orbits far from Earth, or it will be directed towards deep space.
Roscosmos had announced in the year 2020 that it had signed contracts with the Russian Arsenal Technical Design Bureau with the aim of developing a nuclear space locomotive that could be used to transport payloads into deep space, and the value of the contracts at that time was estimated at 4.17 billion rubles.
