Russia today called on the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations "FAO" not to politicize the solution of global food problems.
Russia Today website quoted the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement that “the Russian delegation called, during the 169th session of the FAO Council in Rome on the eighth of this month, at the initiative of the United States and European Union countries, to consider the impact of the Ukrainian crisis on global food security, the importance of preserving on a non-politicized agenda to ensure food security,” he said, expecting the Food and Agriculture Organization to return to work in accordance with the tasks entrusted to it.
In its statement, the ministry indicated that the participants in the meeting worked to politicize the work of the organization in contradiction with the nature of its work, which includes looking at developing agriculture, increasing its productivity and ensuring food security only. It said, “The views of a large part of the council members who insisted on conducting a comprehensive analysis of the reasons for the deterioration of the situation were ignored. on the global food market, including the impact of the crisis in Ukraine, the coronavirus pandemic, climate change, illegal unilateral sanctions and economic measures.”
