As part of works on the route of the light rail that will begin at the intersection of Rabbi Zvi Yehuda and Herzl Boulevard in Jerusalem, there will be changes in traffic arrangements in the area between April 24 and June 22, and there will be a partial cessation of "Kfir - Light Rail".

The works will enable the intersection of the route of the currently operating red line and the new green route of the JNET network.

In recent weeks, preliminary work has already begun to prepare a temporary detour at Ben Dor Junction, to which traffic will be diverted in the following stages in order to facilitate, as well as work to add a westbound lane on Kiryat Moshe Street.

These works do not affect the traffic arrangements on Herzl Boulevard.

Work to connect the lines at the intersection of Rabbi Zvi Yehuda and Sderot Herzl streets will begin soon and will be carried out in two stages, which will significantly disrupt traffic in this area.

The purpose of the works is to connect the red route of the train, with the new green route.

The red route of the train, which currently operates, will be extended in the northern part from the Air Force station in Pisgat Ze'ev, to Neve Ya'akov, and in the southern part from Mount Herzl station, to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital.

The opening of this extension for travel is expected in the first quarter of 2023.

The new green route is the second light rail line to be built in Jerusalem and will connect the Gilo neighborhood in the south of the city, to the French hill north of the city, and include extensions to Givat Shaul and Malcha.

The purpose of the new route is to create an advanced and convenient transportation continuum that will connect major points of interest in the city and create easy and quick access to public institutions, employment centers and tourist attractions such as the government complex, three central hospitals, Malcha Mall, municipal zoo and sports stadiums.

The expectation of the opening of parts of this new route is the end of 2024, coming in the first quarter of 2025.
