A group of workers in Homs, while working to remove the rubble from the old city inside an abandoned building, found a large leather bag containing many artifacts, and it was handed over to the Department of Antiquities in the governorate.

In a statement to SANA, Director of Homs Antiquities Hossam Hamish noted the initiative taken by the workers by handing them over to the Antiquities Department as soon as they found it, calling on all citizens to help them preserve the antiquities by various means and means.

Lubaba Al-Ali, curator of the Homs Museum, said: After conducting an examination of the bag, it was found that it contains six pottery saddles, some of which are antique, some of which are missing, and five pottery vessels, one of which is complete and the rest is incomplete, which is antique, and a small jar of broken and incomplete pottery dating back to the Byzantine period, and ten parts of clay dolls, three of which represent Animals and seven female and human dolls, antiques dating back to the Bronze period.

Al-Ali indicated that a group of plaster models representing Zenobia’s coinage, which is modern, was also found in 23 pieces, three plaster pieces representing scenes from Mary, which is modern, two pottery pieces representing the Ugarit alphabet, which is modern, and three necklaces, two circular with cuneiform writing, and a rectangular one representing the alphabet tied by Sew and it is modern.

The bag also included, according to Al-Ali, a heritage oxidized metal dagger, a small modern coffee pot, a modern metal bowl, a modern pottery cigarette dish, two plaster heads for two men, both newly made, and a plaster statue of a newly made Pharaonic king, in addition to a set of modern oxidized coins as a result of poor preservation factors.
