With the new Herzlas hut, the Nuremberg Spring Festival dares to have a little more Oktoberfest flair.

On Saturday, the opening with the official tapping will take place in the new "VIP tent".

Nuremberg - Almost like the real Wiesn: The Nuremberg Spring Festival has obviously taken the Munich Oktoberfest as a model and wants to attract more companies and celebrities to the hustle and bustle at the dozen pond near the Congress Hall with the new Herzlas hut.

"We have a two-story hut, it's similar to the Munich Käfer tent," says the new marquee operator, Simon Röschke, who has made a name for himself in Nuremberg, for example, as the organizer of the opera ball.

"But we are us," says Röscke with regard to Franconian independence.

Franconian specialties such as bratwurst or Schäuferle are on the menu at the Volksfest-Herzlas.

You will probably look in vain for such delicacies from the north of the Free State at the big Wiesn.

Despite the new hut magic, Lorenz Kalb consciously wants to distance himself from the Oktoberfest image.

The Nuremberg Spring Festival is a family celebration and not a “binge spree”

Lorenz Kalb, head of the organizing showmen's association, doesn't want anything to do with a Franconian copy of the Bavarian Oktoberfest anyway.

“We are a family festival in Nuremberg.

I don't want to hear the other word at all," Kalb almost bursts the Franconian hat cord.

Kalb obviously doesn't want to be lumped together with the "binge drinking" in the state capital.

New Volksfest-Herzla comes from Altötting

Meanwhile, Stephan and Istvan are putting the finishing touches on the folk festival in Herzla.

Five employees spent almost two weeks building the cozy wooden structure.

"We're not at the Wiesn.

We're from Altötting," says Stephan, who says he rents out his 200 mobile alpine huts worldwide.

On the Easter weekend, the Herzla program includes brass band music during the day from 12 p.m. and Karwastimmng in the evening from 7 p.m.

The festival had to be canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
