A Mexican dies trying to jump the border wall and hanging upside down for "a considerable time"

Federal authorities are investigating the death at the border wall of a Mexican immigrant whose leg was trapped while using a climbing harness to jump over the barrier and was trapped and hung upside down in eastern Arizona this week.

Customs and Border Protection officials offered few details, but the local sheriff's office said the victim was 32 years old and was attempting to cross the wall Monday night near Douglas, Arizona.

Her name was not revealed.

Cochise County authorities said the victim was hung upside down "for a considerable amount of time";

they are now in contact with the Mexican consulate as they continue to investigate.

Several migrants have died trying to cross the border wall, including a man who died earlier this month from injuries he sustained falling from the top of the barrier in Texas.

It is unknown if there was surveillance where the woman was trapped because the authorities did not clarify where the incident occurred.

Part of the last stretch of wall built under former President Donald Trump was erected in the Douglas area, with 30-foot-tall steel columns erected on Bureau of Land Management property.

A second bus with migrants from Texas arrives in Washington DC

On April 1, two migrants fell off the border barrier near Clint, Texas, about 12 miles (19 kilometers) west of the Vidrio port of entry.

Local emergency services gave them first aid and took them to an El Paso hospital.

One of the men arrived at the hospital unconscious and died on April 5.

The other received treatment for a broken right hand and was later deported to Mexico.
