On May 23, the Joe Biden administration will stop using Title 42, a health regulation that allows the expedited deportation of foreigners at the border and which was invoked in March 2020 by the Donald Trump administration, at the beginning of the pandemic, and which served mainly as an instrument of migration policy.
The Migration Policy Institute warns that 1.7 million migrants were expelled from the United States under that rule.
Title 42 is still in effect, but the government will stop using it at this time.
