A prosecutor of the Turkish regime in Istanbul requested the dissolution of a women’s rights association due to what he called “its illegal and immoral activities.”
"We have received a notification announcing the start of legal procedures for dissolving our association, and we believe that this is part of a policy of deterring the activities that we have been carrying out for 12 years," AFP quoted the Secretary-General of the NGO "We Will Stop Femicide" Fidan Ata Saleem as saying today.
Ata Selim confirmed that "the struggle of her movement against Turkey's withdrawal from the treaty to confront violence against women and domestic violence, in addition to its activities in the field of documenting and following-up the murders of women, caused the Turkish regime's hostility to it."
Ata Selim called for protests this weekend against the threat to dissolve the organization in various Turkish cities.
It is noteworthy that the association, which is very active in the field of defending women’s rights, organized many demonstrations calling for Turkey to remain in the Istanbul Treaty to Prevent and Combat Violence against Women and Domestic Violence, from which the Recep Tayyip Erdogan regime withdrew in 2021.
Erdogan's regime continues its arbitrary practices against human rights organizations and associations, and those who oppose its policies.
