Russia blamed Western countries for the imminent food crisis in the world because of their sanctions policies against Moscow.
Russia's first deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, Dmitry Polyansky, said during a meeting of the UN Security Council on developments in the situation in Yemen, "The slanders that came today from a number of countries did not surprise us that the only reason for the impending global food crisis lies in Russia's actions exclusively in Ukraine, and we understand Making such accusations is a more appropriate way for our Western colleagues than admitting their responsibility for the instability and pessimism prevailing in the world's food, energy and financial markets.
The Russian diplomat pointed out that this situation did not appear now, but rather has arisen for several years, pointing out that its cause is primarily due to “excessive financial subsidies in the economy of Western countries, trade wars, protectionism and illegal unilateral sanctions that suffer in one way or another from two thirds of the population of the globe.” .
"The biggest factor of instability and imminent problems today is not Russia's special military operation in Ukraine, but the punitive measures imposed on our country with the aim of cutting off existing logistics and financial models to pay for any supplies from Russia except for energy needed by the West," Polyansky said.
