Former Prime Minister Edmund Stoiber answers the future activists.
He praises Markus Söder's environmental policy.
However, he refuses a request.
Wolfratshausen - It was an unusual letter: As reported, the former Prime Minister Dr.
Edmund Stoiber received a letter from the "WOR for Future" initiative.
In it, the climate activists ask the Wolfratshausen honorary citizen to use his role model function and to work for a consistent energy transition.
The answer from the CSU politician came immediately.
Stoiber responds to an open letter to climate protectors: "a personal obligation"
"My great respect for your political and social commitment, also through local initiatives such as 'WOR for Future', is beyond doubt," writes Stoiber.
However, the ex-Prime Minister points out that he “basically never interfered in the local affairs of the municipalities and local commitments”.
He intends to stay with this attitude.
Stoiber praises Söder's climate policy - environmental protection is part of the Bavarian constitution
"Of course I support the energy policy and the environmental policy of my successor in the office of the Bavarian Prime Minister Dr.
Markus Söder,” explains Stoiber.
In his letter, he lists the successes that he attributes to the CSU-led state governments since 1970 in terms of environmental and climate protection: for example, the appointment of the first environment minister in the Federal Republic or the inclusion of environmental protection as a state goal in the Bavarian constitution.
For Stoiber, climate protection is a "personal obligation" - Wolfratshauser writes to activists
For the private Stoiber - father of three adult children and grandfather of eight grandchildren - climate protection is "also a personal obligation".
In the open letter, "WOR for Future" pointed out to Stoiber that he could act as a role model and install a solar system on his house.
"Your comment about my place of residence, which surprises me a bit, ignores the different advice given by the heating experts," writes Stoiber.
He was "surprised how much you care about me personally as a citizen of Wolfratshausen".
