Today, the French capital, Paris, witnessed a massive demonstration that included the "yellow vests" movement and a number of organizations and trade unions against the candidates for the French presidential elections.
French media reported that the protesters marched from the Nation Square towards the Republic Square in central Paris, chanting the slogans "Neither Macron nor Le Pen," referring to presidential candidates Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen, calling for a boycott of the second round of the French presidential elections.
The demonstration, which was attended by members of immigrant associations, trade unions and anti-fascist organizations, included skirmishes with policemen.
The results of the first round of the elections showed Macron and Le Pen winning first and second places, respectively, to face them again in a second round.
It is noteworthy that the "yellow vests" movement was launched in November of 2018 to protest against French President Emmanuel Macron's economic and social policies that "favour the wealthy", but the French authorities confronted them with excessive repression that led to many casualties and thousands of arrests.
