Soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo announced on Monday that his newborn son has died: "It is the greatest pain that parents can feel," he said in a statement on the social network Instagram.
The Portuguese player had announced in October that his wife, Georgina Rodriguez, was pregnant with twins: "Only the birth of our daughter gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness," he said in the publication on Monday.
"We want to thank the doctors and nurses for their care and support," continues the note, which is also signed by his wife.
"We are devastated by this loss and ask for privacy at this difficult time," her post reads, "Baby, you are our angel. We will always love you."
