"There is a cynical attempt to take advantage of the situation around Ukraine to divert the attention of the international community from one of the most protracted unresolved conflicts - the Israeli-Palestinian conflict," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The Russian Foreign Ministry added that the Israeli government continues "with the illegal occupation and the creeping annexation of the Palestinian territories" and that more than 2.5 million Palestinians in the West Bank live in scattered and detached enclaves from the outside world.
"The Gaza Strip has in fact become an open prison whose two million inhabitants were forced to survive for almost 14 years under the conditions of the naval, air and land siege imposed by Israel," the Russian statement said.
The announcement also states that Western countries and the United States "tacitly agree" to the continuation of the Israeli occupation.
