Seven weeks have passed since the start of the Russian invasion, and Ukraine is already a different country.

No one would have thought it was possible, and neither did I
," says Valeriy Kharchyshyn, lead singer of Druga Rika, a popular Ukrainian rock band.

When I was awakened in the night on February 24 by Russian bombardments, I thought I was dreaming.
But it was in fact the reality, that of a new world, the one in which we live
.
Like millions of Ukrainians, Valeriy Kharchyshyn has seen his life turned upside down by Russia's attack on his country.
He was personally a victim of the invasion.
His house was in Irpin, one of the towns northwest of kyiv, where the Russian columns were stopped after heavy fighting.
The beautiful modern villa is no more than a heap of charred ruins.

Irpin played for Ukraine the same role that Ukraine plays for Europe, stopping the Russian Orcs and Tartars
," he says.
