The French in North America today began casting their votes in the second round of the French presidential elections, in which outgoing President Emmanuel Macron and the President of the National Rally, Marine Le Pen, face off.

According to Agence France-Presse, more than 130 thousand French registered on the electoral lists in the United States and about a hundred thousand others in Canada.

The turnout of the French was small in the Washington area in the first round of the elections and the turnout did not exceed nearly 30 percent.

In the first round two weeks ago, 58 percent of voters in the United States voted for Macron, compared to less than 3 percent for Marine Le Pen.

In Montreal, Canada, more than 67 thousand French registered to participate in the polls, as the candidate Jean-Luc Melenchon, who did not make it to the second round, won the highest percentage of votes in the first round.

Voters in France are scheduled to vote tomorrow in the second round of the presidential elections.

On the 11th of this month, the French Presidential Election Commission announced the final results of the first round of the elections, with Macron ahead of his rival Le Pen by obtaining 27.85 percent and 23.15 percent of the vote, respectively, noting that they will meet again in the second round of elections.
