The Center for the Protection of Production Space and Information Exchange in Iran "IFTA" announced that it had managed in recent days to thwart a cyber attack before targeting the country's infrastructure.

The Iranian news agency IRNA quoted the administration of the "IFTA" center as saying in a statement, "The hackers planned to exploit a loophole in one of the systems with much use by government institutions, steal its data related to the country's infrastructure, dictate its instructions and publish contaminated information in it," noting that these attempts were unsuccessful. It was thwarted in its infancy thanks to the timely preventive measures taken by the Centre.

According to a report issued by the center's administration, the investigations conducted to uncover the threads of the attack and the goals of the parties behind it indicated that it had targeted 100 main centers for providing electronic services within the government and privacy centers in the country.
