Presidential 2022: Mélenchon makes an appointment "in the third round" with the legislative elections

2022-04-24T19:15:38.386Z

The former LFI candidate was delighted with the defeat of Marine Le Pen but judges that Emmanuel Macron is re-elected "by default". He calls on his voters to mobilize "massively" in the legislative elections.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon promises his people:

"Another world is still possible!"

.

If the former LFI candidate rejoiced in front of the cameras at the defeat of Marine Le Pen on Sunday evening -

"very good news for the unity of our people"

- he judged that Emmanuel Macron's victory had allowed

"by default and under the constraint of biased choice"

.

“He floats in an ocean of abstention, of blank and invalid ballots”

, he mocked, while affirming a little quickly that he

“is the worst elected of the presidents of the Republic of the Fifth Republic”

.

This title actually goes to Georges Pompidou elected head of state in 1969 with 31.1% abstention (against 28.2% this Sunday).

“You can choose another path”

To mitigate the re-election of Emmanuel Macron, Jean-Luc Mélenchon called on his voters who raised him to third place in the first round (21.95%) to mobilize

"frankly and massively"

for the legislative elections.

"The third round starts tonight

," he said.

"You can beat Mr. Macron and choose another path if you elect a majority of the new popular union which must expand

," he said, as if to reach out to other leftist forces.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon even described his voters in the first round as a

“popular bloc”

which would constitute, according to him,

“the third estate which can change everything if it comes together and expands”

.

“Democracy can once again give us the means to change course”

, he again promised, calling for

“to bring to life a new common future for our people”

.
