Who is this singer chosen to accompany the re-election of the head of state?

The lucky winner is called Farrah El Dibany, 33-year-old mezzo-soprano.

She is the first Egyptian and Arab opera singer to have joined the Paris Opera Academy, which she joined in September 2016. She now embodies the openness to the world defended by Emmanuel Macron.

The young woman was born in 1989 in Alexandria into a family of music lovers.

Granddaughter of a pianist, she joined the Center for the Arts at the Library of Alexandria in 2005.

She won first prize in the Egyptian Supreme Council of Culture's singing competition in 2007, then second prize in the Jungend Musiziert competition in 2008.

Spotted by one of her German teachers, she moved to Germany in 2010 and was accepted into the Hanns-Eisler Music Academy in Berlin.

She graduated in 2014 while having obtained a bachelor's degree in architecture at the Technical University of Berlin, followed by a master's degree in the same field.

Carmen sticks to her skin

A year later, Farrah El Dibany obtained the role of Carmen by Bizet, which she performed at the Neuköllner Oper.

The character will stick to her skin: "Each time I play this role, it's a new experience, I rediscover it: a new Carmen, and a new Farrah", she declared to Radio France in 2019. .

In 2021, the mezzo-sopprano is invited to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Unesco by singing "Wehyat albi we afraho", by Abdel Halim Hafez.
