Iconic palm tree in Mexico City fired from more than 100 years ago

With a tribute and multiple expressions of affection, inhabitants of Mexico City said goodbye this Sunday to an iconic palm tree that dates back more than 100 years, according to the capital's government.

The tree gives its name to a roundabout located on the tourist avenue Paseo de la Reforma.

The authorities announced last week that the palm tree would be transferred to a nursery, because it is affected by a fungus.
