Jordanian King Abdullah spoke tonight (Monday) with US President Joe Biden following the clashes on the Temple Mount.
According to the Jordanian news agency, the two stressed the commitment of the two countries to continue working for peace in the region and the world.
During the phone call, Abdullah and Baidan reviewed the relationship between the countries and the strategic partnership between them and ways to expand them in all areas.
The news agency reported that at the level of developments in the region, including the Palestinian issue, King Abdullah and President Biden stressed the importance of coordination and work at all levels to prevent the recurrence of attacks in Jerusalem and the holy sites and against city dwellers.
In addition, it was noted that the King reiterated the "need to step up efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive peace for the Palestinian people, based on a two-state solution and the establishment of an independent state along the 1967 lines, whose capital is East Jerusalem."
Abdullah also stressed the need to respect the status quo on the Temple Mount and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
According to him, Jordan continues to make every effort to protect the holy places of Islam and Christianity in Jerusalem within the framework of Hashemite guardianship.
