After a drought in March and little rainfall in April, May seems to be quite wet in Bavaria.
The first forecasts look bleak for summer fans.
Munich – This year's March and April brought a lot of sun to the Free State, even temperatures of up to 24 degrees were possible.
A high pressure area brought the Bavarians perfect weather for excursions during the Easter holidays.
Then on Sunday (April 24) the turning point: It rained in many places – a real salvation for nature.
The first communities had already called on their citizens to save water because of the drought.
According to the first forecasts, May will bring a lot of rain.
It could even get really chilly at the beginning.
At least that's what weather experts are predicting.
Weather in Bavaria: Experts give a gloomy May forecast
"May will definitely not break any heat records this year," says meteorologist Jan Schenk from
The Weather Channel
, taking away many hopes of a premature summer.
"I have to disappoint anyone who was looking forward to 25 or even 30 degrees".
The reason: May started cool.
Schenk does not even rule out frost and ground frost.
"Premature ice saints," he describes the prognosis.
According to the first forecasts, it will rain a lot in May.
In addition, frost is possible at the beginning.

Weather expert Dominik Jung from
wetter.net also
predicts low temperatures for the first few days of May.
On May 5th in particular, temperatures are expected to drop to around freezing again during the night.
According to Schenk, "slightly warmer air" will come to Bavaria in mid-May, but at the same time it will be "wetter".
The models also agree: "It will be a very wet May, the rain is coming from the southwest".

Weather in May: Still feeling summer at the end of the month?
According to the forecasts, the daytime temperatures in the first weeks of May will remain between 13 and 20 degrees in Bavaria.
The values can only drop again at night.
So it doesn't get really cold in Bavaria anymore.
However, there is still a small ray of hope for all summer fans in the first forecasts.
"Towards the end of May the weather gets better," says Schenk.
“Then comes warmer air and also more sunshine”.
Anyone who expects 25 degrees will have to wait until the end of May.
According to Schenk, the 30-degree mark will “probably” not be broken until June this year.
