Lebanese President General Michel Aoun discussed the repercussions of the sinking of a boat off the coast of Tripoli in northern Lebanon last Saturday.
Aoun said while presiding over the extraordinary session of the Lebanese Council of Ministers: “The accident hurt us all, and it must be dealt with in various aspects, and the judiciary should investigate the circumstances of the sinking of the boat amid conflicting accounts,” pointing to the need to clarify the truth and put an end to any contradictory interpretations or interpretations.
President Aoun pointed to the occurrence of other security incidents in Tripoli and Beirut and an attack on the Lebanese Energy Minister, Walid Fayyad, describing these incidents as "unacceptable and unjustified", calling for taking the necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
On Sunday, the Lebanese army announced the rescue of 48 people on a boat that sank off the coast of the city of Tripoli in northern Lebanon.
