Former Knesset member Juma Azbarga, head of the Negev Arab High Committee and a member of the Balad party's political bureau, was summoned last night (Tuesday) for an investigation into incitement against the government and state in recent demonstrations in the Negev. Azberga served as a Knesset member for two years (between 2017 and 2019 ) On behalf of the joint list.
He was interrogated for four consecutive hours for his remarks in demonstrations that took place in the Negev near Earth Day.
After leaving the investigation, Azberga said: "The investigation was nothing but a failed attempt to intimidate us and deter us from continuing our just and legitimate struggle to defend our lands in the Negev, which the defense is trying to Judaize and boycott by the Israeli establishment that has lasted for decades."
Azberga added: "This investigation is part of intimidation attempts against us, and for the purpose of continuing the right-wing struggle for Judaism in the Negev and the rest of the country, by settlers and the prime minister representing them. The latest campaign of arrests and investigations against patriotic leaders and youth "And we say that this political persecution will only increase our strength and power. Our just struggle to protect our land and our right to the Negev."
Azbarga belongs to the southern faction of the Islamic Movement, to which also belongs the chairman of Ra'am MK Mansour Abbas.
