Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed that the Russian forces had nothing to do with the events in Bucha, Ukraine, stressing that Moscow knew by whom and how this provocation was carried out.
Putin said during his meeting with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in Moscow today, “The Russian-Ukrainian negotiations in Istanbul managed to achieve fairly significant progress, but unfortunately after reaching these agreements and after clearly showing our intentions to create conditions conducive to continuing negotiations we faced Boca’s provocation and did not The Russian army has something to do with what happened there.”
The Russian president stressed that his country knows who did this, who prepared this provocation, by what means, and who acted upon it.
On the fifth of this month, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the events in the Ukrainian city of Bucha are a provocation aimed at discrediting Russia, pointing out that the Kremlin records conflicting statements by US President Joe Biden and the Pentagon about these events.
The Russian president expressed his hope to reach an agreement with Ukraine through diplomatic means, despite the continuation of the Russian military operation.
"Despite the continuation of the military operation, we nevertheless hope that we will be able to achieve an agreement on the diplomatic direction," Putin said, noting that the negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul had achieved a serious breakthrough.
It is noteworthy that the Russian military operation in Ukraine has been going on since February 24.
In late March, the Turkish city of Istanbul hosted a round of talks between Russia and Ukraine on the settlement.
On the other hand, the Russian President expressed Moscow's readiness to inform the United Nations and the Red Cross of the conditions in which Ukrainian prisoners are being held.
Putin informed the Secretary-General of the United Nations that Moscow is ready to inform the Red Cross and the United Nations about the conditions of detention of Ukrainian prisoners and where to provide assistance to the wounded if their representatives so desire.
Putin stressed that this is the easiest solution to this complex issue, suggesting that Guterres discuss this issue.
