The sculpture trail at Wörthsee has been enriched by a work of art: the almost five and a half meter high stainless steel spindle by the Raistingen artist Max Mirlach has been on the Birkenweg in Steinebach for a few days.

Steinebach

- The spindle is the 16th object of the Wörthseer Skulpturenweg am See, with which an initiative from Wörthseern began three years ago (we reported).

The spindle was donated by the Rotary Club Wörthsee.

The spindle consists of 15 shiny metal arches, which are stretched to form a spindle “growing out of the meadow”.

"The spindle is a volume of air enclosed by three-dimensional lines that give it its shape," explains Mirlach.

The project developed over a number of years.

"The first form was already created as a decorative object, then soon after that it was hung in the Haus der Kunst in Munich floating in larger dimensions made of colored stained wood," explains Mirlach.

"In Steinebach, the final desired version made of stainless steel with a height of 5.4 meters was created," says the artist.

The individual stainless steel arches are flexibly and easily connected to each other.

"Essentially each bow stands independently of the others and has its own movement in the wind."

"We are very pleased to be making an important contribution to the Sculpture Trail at Wörthsee," said Rotary President Andreas Stipp at the inauguration.

The club expects that the Spindel will become a popular photo motif in the future - right on the idyllic lake shore.

“The Sculpture Trail at Wörthsee is unique.

It is supported by the community and is very popular,” said cultural advisor Julia Seeliger von Gemmingen, who was present at the installation together with Johannes Englmair.
