Drama in Memmingen: house roof collapses while working - young man dies

A fatal accident occurred during construction work in Memmingen.

A man was killed when the roof of a house collapsed.

Memmingen - During renovation work on an empty house, there was a death on Friday evening, April 29, in Memmingen.

According to the police, the house in a housing estate in the north-west of Memmingen was empty.

Three men were said to be involved in the work when the roof of the building collapsed.

The 42 and 73-year-old men were buried under the rubble.

The younger man died and the older man had to be taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

A 38-year-old man who was also at the scene was unharmed.

It is said that the salvage work was very difficult because no heavy equipment could be used.

In addition to the fire brigade, the technical relief organization was also on site.

Accordingly, the rubble had to be cleared away by hand after the collapse.

How the collapse could have happened is still unclear at this point in time.

Rescue dogs searched the collapsed house to make sure no one else was buried under the rubble.

In addition, forces from the Technical Relief Agency removed the remaining sections of the wall in the evening in order to secure the site of the accident.
